Hello! I have a 12.5 gallon Fluval AIO that has been running stable for a few months now and I am looking to add some more to it. Currently there is a large almost palm size colony of palys that are spreading rapidly, an orange sea star that has been doing solid for a few months (fingers crossed), a few nassarius and astrea snails, a small cotton ball sized tuxedo urchin, a large fist size purple long tentacle anemone that’s doing very well, and a yellow damsel. The yellow damsel was my test fish when I set the tank up that I intended to use to help seed bacteria colonies, but he has survived and became very territorial. I attempted to add a clown a few months ago but the damsel destroyed him. There are three large live rock and several smaller finger sized pieces in the tank.

Any suggestions on a fish I may be able to add? I’m open to other inverts and corals too if you have any ideas!

The picture is from the short side of the tank.

You will need to get that damsel out if you want to keep any other fish. They are devils. Really shouldn’t be sold in our hobby IMO…unless as predator food.
What would you recommend I do with him? He’s been very hardy and grown noticeably since I got him. I have a 40 gallon that I could put him in but that is stocked with a lot of fish and I don’t know if it’s a good idea to throw him in the mix.

I love Yellow Clown Gobies. Whenever I think Nano, I think of them. They're so cute!
I saw one at my LFS the other day and loved it!!! I just am worried the damsel would hurt it… are yellow clown gobies okay with anemones??

I am the wrong person to ask… I despise the little beasts and would probably flush it or feed it to my dog LOL. Obviously you have some attachment to it, so maybe give back to the LFS? They might give you some store credit to buy your next fish.

They don't really have a relationship with nems. Although I haven't heard of someone not getting one because they have an anemone.
