Hi,

I medicated my 20 L tank with chemiclean a few days ago and came home to find a dead oscellaris clownfish, a spine-less long spine urchin, retracted coral polyps (This tank only had polyps), and some dying snails. The hermit crabs and emerald crabs seem to be fine. I had put my testkit up out of reach of my toddler so, of course, couldn't find it right away. I did a 20% water change and another one the next day. After that I found my test kit. The only thing wrong was that my nitrates were slightly elevated and my PH was a bit lower than normal (7.8-8.0). I had the LFS doublecheck my water with the same results.

I'm not entirely certain what happened but is my urchin going to survive? Its moving around and seems to be eating. The oscellaris clown was the only fish in the tank so the urchin is now alone with my clean up crew. I'm in the process of setting up a larger tank because I know that if he survives he will quickly outgrow the 20L.

What was the purpose of the chemiclean? were you trying to get rid of algae? What type of equipment do you use? What is your waterflow like? How long did you wait to change the water and how much chemiclean did you use??
