Hello reefers,

I have an 82 gallon DT and a 33 gallon sump for a total of 115 gallons. There is about 50 pounds of habitat scaped tbs live rock in the dt. The tank is 3x2x2.

Sump has a filter floss roller, skimmer, and carbon media reactor. I linked a video of the display tank below. Tank is running well with 7.8 ph, 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, and maybe 5ppm of nitrate. Phosphate is around .16ppm (Hannah). New coralline algae is starting to grow on the rocks.

Tank has been running fallow for one month. I’ll be receiving a shipment of 2 lps corals and 2 zoas along with CUC on the 6th. I plan on adding the below livestock shortly and would like input regarding which order to add them in.

My thoughts were pair of clowns and bangai cardinals first. Or maybe clowns and lawnmower blenny. I’m still deciding between the yellow tang and lo foxface but leaning more towards the foxface.

  • 1 Tuxedo urchin
  • 1 Royal gramma
  • Pair ocellaris
  • Pair Banggai cardinalfish
  • Lawnmower Blenny
  • Pink-Streaked Wrasse
  • Blue Star Leopard Wrasse
  • Yellow Tang*
  • Lo Foxface*
  • Randals goby
  • Pair of mandarin
Any advice would be much appreciated.

Welcome! Your tank is way too new for corals let alone SPS… Im not sure they will make it. Maybe someone can help you there; as for the fish an 82 gallon is very small for a large fish like a foxface, I wouldnt put one in that tank if it were me, but up to you of course.

New coralline algae is starting to grow on the rocks.

are you 100% sure and its not the already encrusted coraline that came with the rock?

1 month for coraline is like super fast... its possible if you did as you said, used 100% live everything including recycled sea water, but 1 month for new coraline growth is amazing.

Yes I am sure. I can post photos tomorrow. I can see that this is fresh coraline growth as it stands out from the rest of the rock as well as not seeing it before. I look at the rock daily as I’m always looking for new life.

Be advised that urchin will set your coralline back if you don’t have sufficient grazing opportunities; they actually strip the rock down to the “rock”
…I’d pick either the foxface or tang
..Make sure those cardinals are a actual pair
…multiple Royal Grammas is interesting and IMO many folks miss a entertaining opportunity with a pair or trio

Thank you for the advice. Will probably hold off on the urchin. Don’t see much hair algae on the rock.
