Is it wise to try to resurrect my old live rock from previous setup or should I scrap it and go with new

I like my old rock. Why scrap it. You can clean it pretty easily.

I would use your old rock. I read tidbits of info on using old rock, curing, etc... and I essentially just try to put water on it, with flow, and rinse it for a month or so. You have to count on some decaying matter coming off the rocks, so doing a couple water changes are important. I usually start out with a FW to make sure anything that is SW will die off. I then go to SW to make sure any of the FW organisms will die off. I really don't have a process, other than that, which is set in stone, but I haven't had any problems yet.

I did the same on the plumbing that had sat for a couple years without being used. I did a FW flush for a couple days of circulating, then went to a high salinity SW flush.
