Sorry to introduce myself to the community this way, but I am flying blind here. We live in a community that is 100 miles from the closest aquatics store. I have been reading the forum for awhile as I try to help my son setup his first tank. We got some sand and live rock from a store a few weeks ago and began to cycle a AOI 40g and now we have our first mystery.
One of the two pieces of rock has started to sprout some white smooth thread like creatures. I have since pulled the rock out of the tank into a separate container until I decide what to do.
Looking for help with identification and if management is necessary. Thanks
