Hi reefers .

Ill start with that my system is not that old and in the procces of maturing .
Started 12 march .
Im having some green dust algea but slowly dissolving daily .
I do not have huge algea breakout's or cyano (yet ? )
I have seen a new algea coming up lately and growing .
Grows mostly on sand but also vissible on some rockwork.
Doesnt bother me that hard but would like to know what it is for informational googling :)

Salinity - 1.026
Temp - 24.5°c
Ph - 8.45
DKH - 8.9
Ca - 440
Mg - 1290 / im dosing slowly to 1350 , something is eating mg like crazy .
No3 - 2 ppm / i do see swings of +- 5ppm on weekly base's
Po4 - 0.03

Icp test showed high phos/sillicate's . I have been filtering over iron based gfo approx 2 days . Showed lower po4 and 0.03 sio

Picture's as followed .

Oh boy looks to be briopis or maybe a mix of it and hair algae. Manually remove it before it gets bad!

Those are so small, looks like it could be either standard Green hair algae or possibly Bryopsis? If it gets bigger and goes crazy (like a new tank often does) it will be easier to id

I think this is the algae that died out for me when I raised magnesium to 1500ppm? The high number didn't seem to harm other creatures but got the plant under control, and eventually gone from the system.

Do you have any reference to that ? That would be an easy fix then.

So , it got worse soon after that ,
I treated with flux . After 10 days no diffrence . I did lower phospates at that mopent then i had seen big diffrence , so not sure if the gfo or flux did cure it but here is before and after .

On 1 pic it looks red but thats not true .

I don’t. It’s a old reefers anecdote that has been reported to eliminate Bryopsis.

Looks like you’re having good fortune in turning your ecosystem around.
Losing the algea was light at the end of the tunnel , reef started 12 march and i had few dozen problems since , from algea to dissease's .
I can realy see the tank only now maturing , parameters are stable rocks keeps clean fish are doing fine corals doing great and no algea .
Critter everywhere :)

So this is like the start we can say :)
