I’m looking to try some of the newer LED lights over my 30x30 cube. I’ve been running MH’s. On it for 4 years.
Was thinking of Hydra 52 but concerned about coverage.
Is anybody running anything with good coverage over 30 x 30?

Although most LED fixtures are rated 24x24, mounting a little high will achieve spread to cover your 30x30 w/ no problem. You can always go LED/T5 combo for added coverage and PAR when mounting high.

On a side note I found it very interesting that folks recommend mounting heights of 8" to 12" yet the frag suppliers and top LFS run their lights as high as 2'.

What kind of animals? Check my build thread. Budget?

I have same tank and am running a XR30 G4 pro with T5's. Top of my rocks are about 400-450par and far corners on sand are about 100 par. The G4 is about 60% intensity.

If you have mainly softies, I would think one XR 30 would be good. A hydra52 may work as well for softies in that tank.
