After a month of preparation, my girlfriend and I finally got our very first fish! I got a Frostbite Clownfish and my girlfriend got a Black Snowflake Clownfish. They're very happy and finally eating. I just wonder if I'm supposed to turn the lights off in the aquarium during the night or if I can just leave it on all day and night. Thanks in advance for your fishy wisdoms!

You need to turn them off or you’ll have massive algae issues. Maybe 8 hours of light or so if it’s fish only and a new tank. Good luck!

In my research, it is generally advised that you leave the light OFF at all times while you are establishing a new tank. Fish don't need lighting and will be perfectly happy with ambient light. Turn them on while you are actively watching the tank, but otherwise, it is generally accepted and advised, that you leave them off. Algae bloom, as mentioned above, is the reason why.

Beautiful fish btw,
Steve
