So, I finally measured my alkalinity today after almost 2 weeks since the last measurement. It measured 6.4 and I normally keep it (or at least try to keep it) at 8.0. Amazingly, everything looks pretty good although colors are off on A. vermiculata (canary in a coal mine?) and a wild pink chalice I picked up some time ago. I always thought the Strawberry Shortcake was sensitive but is looks fine. Anyone else care to post their observations regarding alkalinity changes? Guess I need to re-evaluate my daily alkalinity demands...

I've only had my acros stress out from high alk spikes 11+, before I set up my Bubble Magus pump my alk would float from 6.2-7.3 weekly; adding kalk to my ATO (thanks to the advice from Dowtish and Toxic) kept the fluctuations around 6.7-7.3, the Magus keeps my alk spot on.

Mine fluctuates all the time. I've seen in down as low as 5.4. To which I dosed it right back up to 8 or 9. I know this isn't the recommended method but it has worked for me with no I'll effects. The majority of all my across look great and grow pretty good as well.
