Hello Guys,

I have a 20G UNS 60U tank and a UNS 60U stand. I live in an apartment on the 3rd floor with carpet, and the floor is badly unlevel. I was able to level the stand with composite shims, and it's 100% leveled right now. However, I can easily push it from front to back with my fingers. I've attached images showing the situation. What do you think about it? Do you think it will be harder to move once I fill the tank?

Secondly, I've read a lot about load-bearing walls, but I haven't been able to figure out which of my apartment walls are load-bearing! Is there any way someone can point it out from the images? The wall where I put the tank is the common wall between my apartment and my neighbor's apartment. The wall where the couch is placed is the bedroom wall. These two are the only areas I can put the tank as the other wall has a big window to the outside and would be super cold during the winter.

Thank you very much

It will be more stable on carpet if it is not on some load-dispersing sheet or mat, since the edges of the stand will sink farther into the carpet pile instead of floating on top of it.

I wouldn't worry too much about finding a bearing wall. That tank only weighs about as much as an adult man, and doesn't even jump up and down when its team scores.

I think I would put a sheet of wood down first roughly the size of the matt you have there (larger than the stand)
Thank you for your reply.
What kind of wood would be suitable to use, and how thick should it be? From my understanding, adding wood will create a flat surface for the stand, and by adding shims to the wood, the stand shouldn't move as much as it does now, correct?

That makes sense. I added the mat just for water change times. I can remove it and place the stand directly on the carpet to try, and use some big towels around it for water changes.

Yes, it's a small tank, and as you said, its weight shouldn't be a problem. However, I'm paranoid about these things and couldn't help but ask! :)

Yeah to distribute the weight; it should even things out more. You may or may not need the shims after. I think I'd use a peice of thicker 1/2 inch plywood. You can finish it to be water resistant; that matt will repel most things though
