$10 salt grinder from Target... Brings all the boys to the yard
I thought about doing this for over a year when designing the new build. The process went pretty quick once I found the the motors/winches. I wanted them to be Bluetooth/App controlled and have low/high set points so it took a bit to find what I was looking for. My place of business had a ton of leftover 80/20 extrusion that I had permission to use so it was a no brainer to use that material plus, it made for extremely easy adjustment/lineup of motors and pulleys. I designed it all in 2D and then used SketchUp to render it all.How long did it take you to put all of that together? that's a really good idea
I'm very into thisI cant help myself! so many DIY things to show!
Sweet!
Ever get tired of knocking your Hannah cuvettes over? Not any more! Block of 2x4, drill 3 holes half way down, run a router around the edge for flair!
you should cut the spout a little higher up, so the fish have more space to go inside and put a piece of food on the inside. I've used a trap like this 5 times and was successful all 5 times. Caught a pair of diamond gobies, lyretail anthias, sixline, midas blenny, and damsel to transfer to another tank.Fish trap. This has worked 0 of 1 times I've used it
Wow!Not really tools so to speak but more of a system but thought I would share my DIY CO2 Recirc Scrubber and DND. Not a new concept but my designs may be a little different than others. Both work great.
Recirc Scrubber:

Electronic Ball Valve to control the PH levels.

My DND. It is huge. To give an idea on how big it is, the top of my tank is 5' 6".

Very cool!!Since people are adding light elevators to this thread, I’ll throw mine in the mix as well. Not a “tool” per se but def DIY.
Tubular shade motor does the heavy lifting. Bicycle stainless steel brake derailleur cables connects to the 80/20 frame that holds 7 xr15’s. Can control via a keypad on the canopy or my iPad or phone. Makes maintenance in the tank much easier.

Standard in our toolboxes, and highly effective!
Not cheating at all. If you've got it, flaunt it!I don't know if 3d printing is cheating, but I feed my fish nori on a stick.
