LET'S SEE THOSE SWEEPERS!!!

There's not much more frustrating than finding a (perfect) coral for whatever niche you're trying to fill, only to have to remove it because it has ungodly long sweeper tentacles. Such is the case with my Galaxea. I thought I'd seen long sweepers before, but this thing is ridiculous...a 3" diameter coral with almost 6" sweepers!! Beat that.

So I heard stories of people just cutting the sweepers of. I can't tell you if that works, my galaxea behaves for me.

Haha, I've thought about it. I can't imagine that would be good for it. Plus there's quite a few. Wonder how long it would take for them to grow back...

I didn't know Caulastrea could get sweepers this long. I was super surprised to see this haha.

I’ve seen my galaxeas sweepers get up to 10 inches long… I’ve found blasting it with flow keeps em short in my tank.
When I do water changes I have to be quick cause they start to wander quickly….
One time I started freaking out cause a few corals sidedly started dying quickly, then I realized a pump seized and it was the galaxea lol

I've had mine maybe a year and I've managed it with flow, also. But I've gotten to the point where the tank is too crowded and no matter where I put it it can sting other corals. I'm slowly setting up another tank so I've moved it there for now. It's in a 40 cube now, came from a 40 breeder. Space is too limited in either thank for a coral with such long sweepers! So I'll be taking it back to my lfs at some point. ):

Acan had to go! Had to donate the entire rock to lfs to get this out of my tank. Sat dormant for at least a year and woke up on the wrong side of the bed.

My Galaxea also do the same, sweeper tentacle killing surrounding coral

I do notice that smaller frags especially freshly cut ones dont tend to send out sweepers, I guess due to the stress and shock but a happy and stable Galaxea certainly will be a menace. My solution is to adjust the flow to be just right that it doesnt tear through the polyps but keeps tumbling onto the galaxeas keeping their tentacles short.
