This is Big Red. I got him as part of a CUC package from reefcleaners. He is the only one of this kind (in my tank). He is quite large, scarlet-red-orange in colors, hairy, has green eyes (and eyelashes), has a large RIGHT claw and a smaller left claw. He is very friendly, he does a lot of sand sifting. He likes to eat meaty foods, but will eat pellets as well. And he has grown at a pretty quick rate.

This shows an approximate timeline of his growth. The first picture/day was the first day he arrived.

and this is a video of him sand sifting.

That is him almost a month ago next to my dwarf zebra hermit. Not the greatest picture, but Zebra used to be the largest hermit, and Big Red has quickly out grown him.

That is a good close up of his face and eyes.
I am actually going to go get more shells for him and another couple of the larger hermits this weekend as I have run out of large shells.
Someone suggested he might be a Staghorn Hermit, and I think that may very well be it. But it is hard to tell. My hermit doesn't seem as stripey as the staghorn. Or maybe an anemone hermit, but those guys have large left claws, but they have the green eyes like my guy.
But he is not causing any problems, just curious as to what kind of hermit he is.

Good luck I've been trying to get an id on my white with zebra striped eye stalks hermit from them for about 5 months. Seen one at my lfs once and as lichen would have it they had no idea what it was lol. This must be a common thing with them. I got a blue legged from them the first time I ordered.

Unfortunately it turns out this hermit eats meat and prefers it. He has started attacking live snails and eating them, and when given a half shell clam, he devoured it. I am going to be doing my best to re-home him to someone who can give him a better home. I just have a bad feeling that this is only the beginning of what he is capable of. And the snail he attacked is 1/4 his size and the hermit in question has tons of shells to change into.
If anyone knows someone who might know what kind of hermit he is, I would be really grateful if you could put me in contact with them.
