Hey All,

Is there *ahem* anyone *ahem* that could explain to me why when dosing two-part in my SPS dominant aquarium that my calcium uptake is exactly three times my alk?

I’m using the BRS Pharma pouches and currently dose 45ml Alk and 125ml Ca per 24hr. This keeps me steady at 9dkh (+- 0.2 dkh daily) and 450 Ca (+- 10ppm daily).

Other Parameters:

pH: 7.9-8.1 (Apex, Hannah, RedSea)
Mg: 1420 (Salifert)
NO3: 2ppm
PO4: 0.01-0.00

Growing Macro like weeds! Please help me understand the chemistry that’s happening here.

FWIW:
It still does not mean that your coral's are not in-taking one alk ion to one cal ion.

Most two or three parts don't dose out equally, but yours sure look lopsided...

I completely agree. I’ve always had to adjust my two-part for differences but not this much. I’m just confused as to what’s happening, or maybe I’m just not asking the right questions.

Due to different possible concentrations of stock solutions (2 parts), comparing dosed ml means nothing.

Look at the ppm/ day (Ca) vs dKH/day (Alk) dosed. Just very roughly 7.xx ppm Ca vs 1.0 dKH Alk dosing is what I call “balanced”

my guess.. one dosing pump isnt functioning correctly. likely the cal.

run a calibration test

I thought this, but had calibrated twice before setting up the pump (Apex DOS), and can visually track in my container how much Cal Two Part has been used daily and it’s accurate. 100% sure it is dosing the correct amount.
