Anyone else use Kombu to feed anything in their tank?

I have a large urchin in a small tank so I periodically supplement with dried algae. My urchins eats/moves very slowly and I find that Nori will disintegrate by the time they get to it.

Kombu, dried kelp, is much thicker and will not disintegrate. I can leave a piece in overnight and and whatever isn't consumed I just remove from the tank.

I could see this being a thing in an alga-less tank but people usually buy urchins when they have plenty of algae for these guys. Feeding them anything else kills their intended purpose unless your tank has been cleaned to a point where you suspect they are starving.

My tank is very small so I do think there is a risk of it not getting enough to eat. My largest started as a tiny hitchhiker but is now about the size of a tennis ball.
