I installed a KH Guardian alkalinity monitor and auto doser

There is a failsafe parameter for max dosage allowed - ie if set for 35ml and the test tells the machine it needs to dose 80ml, it will instead dose 35ml.

Ok so, for me to figure this out I need to know how potent this dosing solution is. i believe it is a weak concentration but I can’t find any calculators and the description is confusing me.

This parameter mentions the potency but I’m having trouble figuring out how to apply it to my 75g system

The lift solution is 1000g di water with 65g sodium bicarbonate. My device measures every 4 hours and auto doses as needed. Currently have max dose set to 30 ml

S.Raise KH ml/L ability:
the solution raise KH for ml / L ability. This means that whether or not any KH lift solution is used, please provide how much dKH can be increased by 1 L (1000 cc) of seawater per ml (cc) for this lift solution. The default is 2.17, because KHG recommends a 65g / 1L baking soda solution, and this baking soda solution can lift a liter of seawater 2.17dKH.

Please help simplify and put this in terms I understand :)

X Ml of lift solution will raise a 75g tank by approx Y dkh

Or

To raise 75g tank by .5 dkh you need x ml of the sodium bicarbonate solution.

I need layman's terms here and that paragraph above just makes my head spin

Thank you!

@Randy Holmes-Farley
Hi! Can you please review the above post and give me your thoughts?

I am finding 30ml of solution is raising my system by .35-.4 dkh. Does this line up with the mfg description above ?

Thank you!

Using this calculator, 65 g of sodium bicarbonate in 75 gallons will raise alk by 7.6 dKH.

If you are only dosing 30 ml instead of the full 1000 mL, then 30 ml adds 30/1000 x 7.6 = 0.035 x 7.6 = 0.23 dKH.

For one mL dosed, the same calculation gives 0.0076 dKH.

This is a great place to be!

Thanks Randy!
