I have to confess that I do not know the science of why that happens. If memory serves me correctly (and these days it often does not, ha ha!) I think the ammonia is in the bag with the ponies but does not become toxic until the bag is opened. I may have worded it poorly in the article to mislead the reader to think that the ammonia actually increases.Im curious as to why the ammonia in the bag would increase when exposed to air. Does this have to do with anaerobic bacteria being exposed to oxygen at all?
