Hello All, I am new to the forum and have had my marine tank set up for about 6 months. Everything was going well until I noticed a white patch on one of my juvenile clownfish right pectoral fin (apparently tank bred) please see photographs. I did some research and have treated him for ich using nt labs white spot treatment over the past 10 days in a QT with another sufferer (the other fish has subsequently cleared up) but sadly the little clown hasn’t.

looking for someone with more experience to possibly help diagnose.

any help is greatly appreciated.

Welcome to Reef2Reef!

The focus in the pictures is a bit "soft" but this is not ich. It very well could be Lymphocystis, a non-fatal viral infection that will clear itself in a few weeks to months (although it may spread to new spots before it gets better). It could also be an injury from another fish (clowns often fight).

Does the fish show any other symptoms? Not eating well, breathing fast or acting "off"? If not, I would just watch it, as it probably is just Lymphocystis.

Thanks Jay I will attempt to get a better photo in the morning.

in terms of other behaviour he seems to be spending more time away from his other clown mate, he’s eating well and swimming nicely if anything slightly lethargic. Breathing looks to be ok perhaps slightly faster than the other clown.

I’ll keep monitoring for a further few days and if all seems ok return him to the DT.

Thanks once again Will
