Hello all, I am completely new to this hobby with zero (and I do mean zero) knowledge. I found my way here by accident; I've been going through a tough time recently had a chance to watch a tank just doing its thing (via one of those chill ASMR-type videos). The experience was so meditative and made me remember all the excitement of trying to raise my own goldfish back when I was just a dumb, silly kid with no idea what I was doing. Wanting to recapture that feeling has me searching and reading non-stop, even though I don't expect to actually create my own tank for a few years. Happy to be here and thanks to all the vets who are so open to share their wisdom with the community - I've learned a lot even in just the few weeks I've been researching and eavesdropping on conversations.

I hope to hook up with a club in my area at some point - but the closest ones don't have a super active internet presence so I'm not really sure how big they are. (I'm on the main line in PA.) For now, I'll just keep swimming & learning :grinning-face-with-big-eyes: thanks again~

I run those videos on my tv most days even though I have a tank in the next room

right?? something about watching a tank is real brain crack. I just immediately zone out & chill. but I also see all the work that goes into achieving that, which is motivating in a way my life hasn't been for a really long time. all this to say I'm enjoying my deep dive into the hobby and hope to learn more!

take a gander at my signature and look to the link provided to learn how to join the eastern PA reef association forum group! hoping to get a good amount of active reefers to one day start planning events and the like. i recently took down my tank and have lots of equipment available for sale if you haven't started buying things, yet! :)

Welcome. Yeah there isn’t much in the way of physical clubs in pa here. There’s a bunch really active on fb and we have one here on reef2reef

You're gonna learn a lot here. When I first started I bought a tank used with terrible equipment, filled it up, cycled it and moved forward with no idea what to do or look for. You're SO far ahead of what I was back then in your way of thinking. Knowledge is power, after all. Just study like you're taking a class and write stuff down for future use. Your knowledge base will increase at a steady rate. Have fun!

So Greetings and Welcome to out collective obsession!!!!
