Just wondering if you every ordered that e-bay substrate and if you could post some pics. It looked like some really nice stuff and after a very thorough discussion of what it's truly (likely) made of and how it's processed, it sounds fine to use in a reef tank.

I think I ordered some of the stuff you were all discussing. I have a lot of rubble in the tank seeding it atm, but I will try to get a decent shot of it sometime soon. It is some pretty looking stuff!

It's here and looks nice in the bag. It's not like a pile of sugar like the website - not bleach white. It looks very similar to the white beach sand in Florida's panhandle. I'm very happy with the appearance - well, as much as I can be seeing it in a clear bag under household lighting anyway. I'll post a nice close shot of it before and after it goes in the tank. It'll be two weeks or so before it goes in there. Grain size is as stated - fairly fine, but varying grain size. It came in 30lb packages and is damp with a little condensation in the bags. Instructions for rinsing attached. It appears as advertised, but we'll see. I think I bought too much - I only want an inch or two and it's looking like I may have two surplus bags...

Right now I'm only running 2 of my 3 PCs and the bulbs are old. I have replacement ones standing by, but I figure I don't need that much light while it is cycling.

FTS with the sand. (I know, lots of rubble in there for seeding purposes atm.)

Hmmm I think this may be a sand I need to see in person. I kind of have my heart set on the special grade reef I think its called. Bill I think its what you and Mike run in your tanks.

I'm very pleased with it. It seems to be permanently on ebay for buy it now Or Best Offer. I cut $5 off it and they accepted within seconds. Must have a bot of some sort. It's worth it IMO. I used about 1/3 of the bag they sent me. I may add a bit more as I have a couple low spots. For flow I have a Koralia Nano and a Maxijet 900 (that one doesn't blow on the sand much though.

Grain size is heavy enough to not blow around much unless it gets a direct turkey baster shot I think.
