This isn’t my first rodeo with saltwater. I left the hobby a few years ago. However, my love for saltwater aquariums has returned! I’m excited to begin a all new journey with new plans and goals. The hobby has grown quite a bit since my 29gal biocube In 2015. With all of the new gadgets coming out, My experience will either be; very enjoyable or a huge pain in the butt. Lol Either way I’m here to post some sweet content of my experiences of the JBJ 45 build.

Equipment:

JBJ -Rf 45 AIO
Ai Hydra 26
IceCap Gyre 2k
CaribSea 40lbs aragonite sand
Dry Rock from LFS
Eheim Jager heater 150w

Filtration:
Intank media basket (soon)
Innovative Marine Skimmer (soon)
Carbon media
Aquaticlife Ro/di (soon)

I ordered a few things to get me started last night. I should have water in the tank by Monday. Anything you guys think I might need feel free to mention it.

Ditch the hydrometer. They are worthless. Get a refractometer or digital salinity pen
I got them both. You don’t see it in the picture but I purchased a refractometer. I noticed after the fact, i also could’ve gotten a digital salinity testers about the price of both.

Got the rodi all hooked up, flushed, and reading 0 ppm. I’m Just waiting at this point till the brute bucket is filled. I’m also now questioning my salt choice. Is this really the brand I would like to start off with? How hard is it to transition to another salt mix?

Awesome I got the same tank.

I recommend dropping that hydra lower if you're going to stock nice SPS.

I had to drop my Hydra 32 to about 7 inches above the tank.
Thanks for the info! I wasn’t sure of my PAR readings yet but wasn’t in a rush to find out as its too soon for coral. Definitely will keep that in mind once I start adding sticks.

Tank looks awesome! I have a few frags right now but I wanted to get some nice show pieces. I just couldn’t justify buying $100+ corals and not have some kind of layer of redundancy. Once I have the controller all set up, i Have a pieces I’m going to go after.
