Today is day 1 of what I hope will be 365 days of posts on my new frag tank build.

Tank is a deep blue 60? gallon. Bought it used locally. The tank measures 48L x 24W x 13T. Internet says thats 64 gallons.
This system will have a 40B plumbed into it as a sump. For a total volume around 80 or 90 gallons.

Tank will be lit by 2 or 3 Kessil A360WE's.

Pumps, wave makers, skimmer, etc TBD.

I want this thread to be a from the ground up build. I know there will be days that my update is... "no update today". But hopefully this build can help some other budget builder know what to expect.

My goal for this tank is to grow frags to a larger (colony) size. I also want to be able to at appropriate times make frags to trade or give to fellow reefers. Im not looking to make any money at this point.

Thanks for following along.

Today's progress and pictures.
Started with 8 2x4s. The design for the stand is in my brain. Im not much for writing up elaborate drawings.
I've got 2/3rds of the initial peices cut.

Yay! Following. I have a 20 long that would make a nice beginner frag tank.
My frag tank started as the 20 L you see next to the new tank. My current frag tank is this 40B . That will become my sump on this new build.

Long day today... traveled to see @fishguy242 and @TriggerFinger (nice to meet you K) had some motorcycle issues, thinking its a combo battery alternator starter... we were able to get it started but I had to limp it all the way back home... trip normally takes 3.5 hours... took 4.5 today. Suffice to say didn't get anything done on the frag build today.

But I did get an elegance, and some snails. And made a wish list of things I want to pick up after Thanksgiving.... I LICKED THE LOBO OR TRACHY WHATEVER IT IS ITS MINE... :)

Hopefully just bad battery...stators (motorcycle version of alternators) can be quite pricey. No need to ask how I know ;Jawdrop. Ive debated taking a weekend ride up there to lick some corals, but its 11 hours 1 way from here...longest non stop, except for fuel and to wake up my @ $ $ cheeks, to date for me is 14 hours 1 way......so it's definitely in the I can do that category for me
