So last night before bed I started mixing up a 5g batch of saltwater. The salt I used was Red Sea blue bucket. It was the last of my salt and since my bucket had a hole in it, I put the rest of the salt in a Tupperware with no lid (last week, it’s been sitting in my kitchen table because I tried to do a water change around that time last week but didn’t)

Anyway, this morning before work I noticed it was completely cloudy. Looked like a bacterial bloom.

I just got home from work and the water is clear but all that white residue sunk to the bottom. Is the salt bad? Do I need to toss this water out? I left the pump off this morning so I think that’s why it’s all settled. I don’t see this mixing.

Interesting. I would test alk and CA to see if this is calcium carbonate precipitation?

Edit: I was thinking about a recent post from RHF when i wrote my reply, and before I hit send He'd already answered. :thinking-face:
