So I have finished my fallow period, the fish that survived the ick are back in the display and I'm picking out fish. I have a 40 gallon set up, already sanitized and cycled. I want to implement copper this time rather than hyposalinity just for the best results. I have backup tanks that I want to setup if I figure this procedure out. So is this correct.

Make sure fishes are eating before doing anything

Once the fishes are eating for a consecutive 3 days, then I can dose prazi, wait 5 days, dose again

After prazi, over a week dose copper (I have Mardels Coppersafe) to a level of 1.75ppm ( I have a hanna checker so no overdosing!)

Allow the fishes to stay at the therapeutic level for 14 days.

After 14 days move JUST the fishes into the backup tanks with new equipment etc.

Wait two weeks and observe

No more signs-----> go into display tank

Is this more or less correct? I don't want to screw up.

There are a lot of options and what you have laid out can work.

I prefer to treat with copper earlier in the process but you don't have to. I ramp up copper over 3 days and then treat for 10 days. Anything over 8 days at full copper levels should work.
I've also gotten away from using Prazipro. I use General Cure in the water instead, for 2 main reasons. First is that the prazi it contains seems to not impact the fishes appetite as much. Stopping eating is a common side effect of Prazipro. The metro in General Cure will help with some parasites that copper doesn't deal with well. I consider that a win-win.

2 weeks is a good number.

I like what @HotRocks does by having 1ppm of copper already in the water. I'm less worried about internal parasites than he is so I don't treat those prophylactically. Instead, I like to ramp up copper over 2 more days. I do 10 days at full copper, adding GC on days 7 and 9 while in copper. So, 13 to 14 days in and I have treated everything I plan to. Then a transfer to a clean QT for 2 to 4 weeks for observation and determining if treating for internal parasites is needed.

But again... lots of correct ways to go about it.
