I just got a red gracilaria and brown seaweed macro algaes in the morning and was wondering if the colour of the red gracilaria is normal since this one is quite a bit darker than the usual pictures I've seen online which are more brighter unless this one will get brighter as time goes on

The light i am using is currently a normal 40 watt led bulb with a cool day light temperature which emits about 4400 lumens

I asked the store where I got it shipped from and they said that this bulb was good enough

I also have a wave maker pointing at its direction for high flow

If it's necessary or recommended I can add another 40 or 20 watt bulb

4400 kelvin’?
Put the plants under blue light and then they will look like they were online.

I generally look for a 5 or 6 Kelvin bulb to keep the plants happy.

I apologize for the confusion, i meant to say 6500k

Will they look more redder with a blue light or is it necessary? Since I always thought that macro algae have similar needs to freshwater plants and thus would grow better with a white light

That bulb is fine, I think the plants color is what it is, and was commenting on the online images that often show amazing colors that don’t show up in our home tanks without a filter or actinic lighting to enhance our experience.

I use a full spectrum freshwater fixture over my refugium and my reds are a deep red color. Those are nice size clippings. Did you get those from an online vendor or fellow hobbyists?

Ah thank you! Really solved my worries since the iron supplement i had ordered would still take about a few days to reach

Yeah! I was surprised by the amount I had gotten and it was from a vendor!

I was going to buy a full spectrum refugium floodlight but since it was pink it wouldn't look as loving in the display
