Hi
Is this chalice doing okay?
Its colour is constant, but it has changed shape, becoming more ‘spikey’.
Is that okay?

It is in mid high flow, about 120par, 8dKH, NO3 at 5 and PO4 at 0.005.

The purple one is just above it and has not changed in the last 4 weeks it’s been in the tank.

They were both put in at the same time.

Thanks!

The top photo (green) looks like Oxypora genus of Chalice corals. The ridges are normal for this type of Chalices. It looks like it is getting settled in, but may be bothered by the algae and potential dinoflagellates or hair algae pictured.

The bottom photo (purple) looks like Mycedium genus of Chalice corals. It looks healthy and is getting settled in. Again, some algae pictured on the right might bother it in time.

I find my Chalice corals grow best in low PAR like 80-120. A nice mild flow is suggested. Stronger flow will influence its growth pattern and it may conform in shape to the flow it is receiving. I occasionally feed my Chalice with mysis when I have all the flow off in the tank.

This is 10 months of growth for my Raja Rampage:

Thanks - Firstly, that's a lovely chalice. Secondly, appreciate the insight. I've done a decent amount of blowing the rocks off around it and will keep that up to see if it looks happier over time.
