So I’m thinking of upgrading my tank to something a little bigger, naturally I am looking at more lights.

I’m partial to the Prime Reef light, but as I’m perusing the stores around me I notice a lot of their set ups have those tube lights, similar to Marine Glo and seem to be thriving.

I know those lights are more affordable by a long shot, but Im wondering because I’ve seen so many stores using them, are these as effective? What are the pros and cons? I’d love to budget with lighting but not at risk of my tank.

I am into a variety of corals, with two clowns.

If your talking about florescent T5 or T8 tubes they are great for coral growth, but are very expensive in comparison to LED.

In addition, you’ll have no control in spectrum and don’t make corals “pop”.

Using them in combination with LED gives best of both IMM.
