Maybe a silly question but is there anyone that knows if low temperatures effect the rate of GFO:s uptake of PO4?

The reason to this question is that we are planning a 40 000 L coldwater kelp tank and want to have GFO as one of our tools. It will be placed in a reactor by a closed loop. We are also planning to use both refugium and sulphur based denitrification. For these two we plan to heating up the water to around 20 degree C (slow flow through both) from the normal 7 - 12 degree C. If the uptake rate of PO4 in a GFO reactor is significant temperature depended - we can add that feature to this small close loop to - but if does not matter - its much easier and cheaper to use the original cold water.

Sincerely Lasse

Here is something about about the factors controlling it, says nothing about temperature but its interesting:

Here is a pdf talking about temperature and iron oxides:

From that pdf:

"The amounts of phosphate adsorbed by the different Fe oxides increased with increas- ing temperature, since there is higher energy for the bond breaking and bond formation at a higher temperature."
