Its time to upgrade my chiller and I've been using an AquaEuro for some time. I'm also getting an APEX EL.

While shopping I notice AquaEuro has 2 versions of their chillers. The typical chiller and an APEX chiller. The apex chiller seems to be a stronger build but I also assumed it had features that made it better for apex-controller owners.... until I read the Q&A on their site:

"Q. My chiller display is showing a higher temperature than my Apex Controller?

A. We do not recommend using an Apex controller with our chillers.
Our units already have an integrated digital controller."

Keeping a consistent temp is one of my top priorities and I don't want to get a chiller that doesn't play nice with a controller and I definitely don't want to get a chiller that is branded in a way that is meant to confuse consumers.

Am I wearing crazy-pants? Can anyone give me a rundown of the AquaEuro differences and/or a chiller brand that would work better with an APEX controller?

Any help is appreciated, thanks.

There is Apex and there is Apex. APEX Technologies is a French company - specialists on cabinet air conditioners and fluid coolers. It is founded back in 1997 and the name Apex on a controller from Neptun Systems was introduced in 2009 - so the question is - how is confusing how

But the most important thing is that compressor driven water chillers is very difficult to use together with a controller. In order to work well and have a decent time of living - the compressor need to run at least 1/2 an hour or more in every run and have a rather long off time. They works best if they work in a continuous mode. To protect the chiller - rather large hysteris values is needed - often plus - minus 1.5 - 2 degree C. This means that there is some problems to have a very stable temperature in the aquaria.

However - there is techniques based on other technical constructions (Peltier-technology) that make it possible with a very constant temperature in our tanks and are suitable for controllers. However - I do not think this brand will work with controllers made by Neptune System - but there can be others out there

Sincerely Lasse
