Be careful with the iodine. Most salt mixes have plenty of iodine in them. It’s not a good idea to dose what you can’t test for. Your xenia should be ok. How old is your tank? What are your parameters?I also dosed it with iodine as many suggested but nothing happened. It will still not pulse or revive
No it just does that sometimes no worri
My nano tank is 2 months old. I added soft corals, Xenia and GSP one week ago. I haven’t checked the water parameters. I have been using Petco ocean water from day 1 and do regular water change. I also added API quick start for immediate start aquarium cycle. I don’t have any fish added to my aquariumBe careful with the iodine. Most salt mixes have plenty of iodine in them. I would buy instant ocean and either distilled water or RO water from Walmart until you get your own RO/DI unit. That ocean water is ridiculously expensive. There’s also no way to know what’s in it. And chances are that ocean water sat in a warehouse for six months before sitting on petco’s shelves for another two. All the bacteria in it are likely dead which can spike ammonia, nitrates, and phosphates. You’ll have more control over your water quality and it will be much cheaper in the long run to buy the salt and even the RO or distilled (best choice) water since you have a nano.My nano tank is 2 months old. I know it gets expensive but I don’t have experience mixing salt and water. Since I’m new I didn’t want to risk it. No plans on adding any fish to the nano tank.Add a fish and start feeding. They like food in the water.
Thanks buddy. I was really worried about my Xenia. It started to pulse again since yesterday. Few polyps broke and attached to rock. I see tiny ones growing now.No, it is just going through a slump right now.![]()
My Xenia bounced back. It’s pulsing like crazy . The broken polyps have attached to rock and started growing too. Now I have 3 different colonies of XeniaI have a similar issue. Just added xenia to my sump since you can see it. It's been in there 3 days. Drip acclimated pulsed and perky for a few hours and then slump. Debating on pulling it. Wanted to add something with some movement. It's a low flow as there's no power head. I have a perm resident in my sump. Maroon clown is a jerk. I also have a discosoma mushroom and a red fern macro algae sprig I just added (came pathetic looking but looking better every day).
