Hey guys so my toadstool has not extended itself for what feels like over a week now and I’m wondering if it’s sick? Or dying? Im not super knowledgeable on toadstool so I attached a picture, the tank is pretty newish only a couple months old so that’s also why green algae is everywhere.

So I'm no expert, but I've noticed mine can be dramatic and extremely hardy. I had a big temp drop in my tank and for about a week it looked folded over and not extending at all. No changes and now it's back up and extending. I'd give it time and try to get your ammonia gone and get some nitrates/phosphates

Doubt there's any ammonia and it's just from using an API test. As mentioned above the 0 nitrate and no phosphate test is likely the issue. This could be in part from the algae forming, but still is stripping the food for coral.

Nitrates are zeroed. That's a problem. Its starving your coral. What are your phosphates? I'm not sure about the light but it should be enough for it

Edit..ammonia should be zero and mag could stand to be about 1300
Ah yeah I’ve never tested phosphates and for ammonia, PH, nitrates, nitrites I use API, for magnesium, alkalinity, and calcium I use salifert I did after reading this comment but the Hanna phosphate checker but that’ll be here Tuesday

I dose neophos and neonitro. I'm sure there are other options but that's what I use. A host of bad things come with zeroed out phos and nitrate...like dinos and starved coral.

Also keep in mind they do close up now and then to shed their “coat”. They develop a waxy coat and then shed after a few days. This also allows them to shed off things that may be bothering them. Stress can also cause them to do this. Prolonged periods of light causes mine to close up and shed also. Just an observation. But yes, No3 and Po4 should be present.
