I've been acquiring gear for my setup, and I'm second guessing my return pump. I'm getting a Cade 1500 S2, which has a 142 gallon capacity in the main tank. I have a Vectra S2, but I'm starting to think I should've gotten an M2. I think I'll have about 5 feet of head. The performance graph for the Vectra S2 is a a little small to read precisely, but I think that puts me somewhere in the 600-650 GPH flow rate.

My gut feeling is I should try to swap it for a Vectra M2.

Is that enough?

What do you all think?

I’ve got the M2 on the 1200 S2/P - I’m only running it at about 30% - but I could probably up the flow if I wanted.

I’ve also got the s2 for feeding other stuff.

The s2 definitely doesn’t have the grunt of the m2 and I’m happy with m2 as my main return

The S2 will be fine for your tank.
But it will probably be running at or near 100%.
While I don't think you absolutely need to upgrade, it might not hurt if you can get a good price for the S2.
