I've been struggling with dino for 5 months now. It's much better now. I need to understand, the question is this: I have hair algae around my tank, it's brown for some reason, so I want to know is it just brown algae or is there something else sitting on it (presumably dino, diatoms, orrrr cyano)?
I can make more microscope photos, on that micropicture to me seems like there is microorganisms sitting oround HA

The microscope pic doesn't look like dinos but it isn't a very clear picture. What happens if you clean it does it came back?

If you blow with a buster, some dust comes off, but the color doesn't change much. Of course, on some other places you can find bridges of dino snot, but that's if you look closely. Will make more pics or vids

95+% of "brown hair algae" is brown/red diatoms, dinos, or cyano growing on the green filamentous algae.

So I had this. It was in my main display and just ruined everything. I put everything I could in my little pico 3 gallon where it immediately took hold. I tried a few things, daily water changes, aggressive removal, Chemiclean. I had an old bottle of Algaefix from API. I used the dosage per bottle, tough in a 3 gallon, and the algae was reduced by quite a bit. I retreated two weeks ago, and the algae is almost dead. I have no inverts or fish in this system, so please test it on a rock you can pull out of the display before you try anything. I'd hate for you to lose stuff because of my recommendation.
