Is dosing calcium carbonate powder a suitable substitute for dosing CaCl and Alk?

For Randy Holmes-Farley: I was wondering if I could dose liquified calcium carbonate if it would be a suitable substitute for dosing calcium chloride and sodium carbonate/bicarbonate.

I'm aware of its use as a flocculant, but I was hoping Randy will weigh in. My gut tells me it's no different than a calcium reactor, requiring low pH to dissolve.

As folks posted, particles of calcium carbonate dosed into seawater won’t dissolve so do not add calcium or alkalinity that corals can use. The pH is too high.
