I just wanted to introduce myself formally. I'm originally from India and have lived in Knoxville since 2003. I started off with freshwater back in '03 and about 10 years back switched over to the salty side. My current reef tank has been up and running for ~9 years though I had the misfortune of it nuking this past summer. Our house HVAC went out in the hottest week of the year (Murphy's Law at its finest!) and it took a week to get a new unit installed. No matter how many bags of ice I floated and fans I ran, I just could not bring the temperature down to a safe level. I was not that deep into the hobby so I did not have a chiller unfortunately. I lost all my corals (mostly softies) except for the GSP. Lost all but my yellow watchman goby, pistol shrimp and the clown. They are my oldest inhabitants and I was overjoyed that they survived the apocalypse.

All the corals you see below (except the GSP) have been added since June of this year. Everything stabilized really well quickly after the heating incident and the tank has been doing great since.

Here are the details of my tank:

System info:
36 gal bow front
10 gal sump
Apex controller
Tunze ATO
Stock list:
1 yellow watchman goby
1 clown
1 royal gramma basslet
1 pistol shrimp
Assorted CUC
2 frogspawns
1 torch
1 leptastria
1 birdsnest
1 toadstool
GSP
Zoa frag

Alright ... enough of the boring details. On to some pictures. Enjoy!

Welcome to our club!

The goby guards that cave under the rock like his life depended on it. Same with his shrimp partner. He doesn't let anything come close to it. Always is so cool to watch!

Thanks, Rob! Not that I don't think SPS tanks aren't pretty - I just like to see the flow and movement that the softer corals provides. With that being said I am trying to get more of a mix to my tank. I would like to add some color and acans are at the top of my shopping list right now. Rainbow acans specifically - so stunning imho!

BlueDevil, if it's acans you're looking for, we have a couple of really nice acans in the club library that will be available for check out real soon.

If you haven't familiarized yourself with our library system, you can check it out on the ETRC private forums. Here is a link explaining our library: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/etrc-coral-library-101.194579/

As I mentioned, we have 2 very nice acans that are ready to be fragged and checked out. We have a list of names of people wanting a frag: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/library-check-out-order.196687/

Let me know if you want on the list and I will add you.

Chris - the timing of your post could not have been better! I had just stumbled upon the library post yesterday and was wondering how I could get in on it. I would love to be added to the list for a rainbow acan please. I'm not sure exactly how the lottery system works - is the list that I see set until the frag has been passed down everyone in the list? I can get the finer details of this process when I see you folks at the next meeting.

Cheers!
Yash

Right now it's just a list of people wanting a frag.

We will determine check out order by simply drawing names from a hat.

But at the rate they're growing right now, everyone should get a piece very soon.

That's awesome! I'm glad now I didn't pull the trigger on a rainbow frag I saw online. Before finding this forum, I didn't know anyone locally so the shipping for just one frag was a bit much. I will patiently wait my turn :)

Love your tank man!

Also, I love how the watchman has the Grumpy look. They always have a big frown, and look like someone peed in their cheerios.

Thank you! Yeah, the goby is by far my favorite fish! So much personality. We have named him Grumpy due to the ever-present frown. It's almost he's saying: "Woe is me! Life is so hard in this fish bowl!"
