Hello!

I have 3 AI blade 66 inch models (two glow one grow). Last night a glow stopped working. Totally shut off. I flipped the light on and off and some of the panels were flickering and eventually all shut off. Left it over night and today same issue with the flickering although I did get them to turn on and stay on for a bit but it went to 100% and did not communicate to the mobius app. Eventually after a few minutes (I was just about to power it down not to fry my corals) it shut off again. The thing is toast. I tried a different power supply and it’s the light not the supply.

Here’s where it gets super interesting. This blade looks different than my others. So the side panel where the power cable doesn’t come out of is diffeeent than all the others. It’s the exact same end cap as the one from which the power cable comes from… strange as heck. There is an open hole right to the electronics right where the cable usually comes out of. Did they install the wrong end cap on that side and left it exposed to the elements? That would be wild

One other difference is this blade has no logo etched into the top which makes me wonder if it’s a previous version or just a big QC miss.

Anyone else have a version with two of the different end caps with a hole in it?
Anyone know if there are earlier different versions of the light?

Also how is AI support? I submitted a ticket yesterday and haven’t heard back and I called and they said they should be open but are not. Curious on the experience there.

Also on the warranty, it says it excludes water damage but this seems like a big defect to let water into the light. I’m thinking I splashed something in during a water change as the light is acting as it would if it had some water issues

Thanks y’all!

I purchased one AI blade 22 inch. Was working great for several months, then flickered out just like you described. I believe the internals got wet. The blade is supposed to withstand some vapor and splashing. unlike the Hydra and Prime lights, the blade is designed to be on top of the tank. There is at least a 6 month warranty, so I contacted AI and they sent a brand new one out that day, and took about 1 week. Came with a shipping box for the broken light. Same thing happened with my second one so was pretty bummed. But, they sent me a brand new one and third times a charm. There may have been a few mistakes with the first ones. If you have your receipt, they will work with you.

I have three 58" AI Blades. Both of the two Grow lights became defective around the 7 month mark and were replaced with brand new once's within a month or so (easy process, it took longer than normal since they were waiting on a new shipment). For one, a whole series of diodes just stopped working and for the other one of the panels shined more blue than the rest (the one nearest the power cord). I have had a Glow for only 3 months now and no issues with that unit as of yet.
