Hey guys I finally got my blue hippo out of the DT after a few weeks of trying to get him out/locate him. Im not sure if a rock fell on him or what but he looks bad. I was only ever able to see glimpses of him in the DT but knew he was injured. What is the best way to go about treating him now that he is in a hospital tank?

The wound is huge - and your water seems cloudy. It may be the picture. That fish should be put in a hospital tank IMHO - and treated with a broad spectrum antibiotic - Then - unless its a mirage - your water does look a little cloudy.

This looks like bacterial either solely or post -injury and will require immediate treatment using Seachem Kanaplex which is broad spectrum and easily absorbed by the fish in a separate quarantine tank with added aeration. Water seems cloudy and I question if you are maintaining water with changes and testing ?
How are other fish looking ?
Is hepatus breathing normal or rapid and eating ?

Just did a water change right before on the tank, probably why its cloudy. This isnt in the DT he is in my isolation tank I keep up and running for stuff like this. And all the other fish in the DT are completely fine.

Ok =- sounds good and medication recommendation already given. Assure its on the healing path and not getting worse. Its likely progressive and not sudden

Yeah I saw he was injured about two weeks ago. But I only saw him at a glimpse and couldnt find him for a week after that. Then I saw him again a few days ago for a few seconds and couldnt catch him. Today I spotted him and was able to pull him out to fully see the damage.
