Hello!
I feel like this might be a silly question, buuuuut...
I have a 10 gallon nano in the works, and I'm getting pretty close to having everything I need to get my tank cycling.
Should I put my live rock in, then sand, and then water?
Or should I fill the tank with sand and water, and then put the rock in?
I've heard before that the rock should go in before the sand, so if something tunnels under the rock it won't fall down onto the glass, fish, etc.
The live pukani I want only comes in larger pieces from my source, so I'll have to break some of it up first. I plan on doing this in a bucket of water with a chisel, rinsing with clean water, and then adding it to the tank.
If anyone is interested, here is what I have so far for my setup.
Aqueon 10 gallon tank (rectangular)
AquaClear 50 with sponge, chemi-pure blue, and bio media
Eheim Jager 50w heater
Hydor Koralia nano 240GPH powerhead
SB Reef Lights 16" basic LED (I know I'll have to hang it high and run it low on such a small tank)
I plan on using Arag-Alive special reef grade live sand. I also have a good RO/DI water source, a nice refractometer with calibration solution, and a saltwater master test kit by API.
I look forward to hearing your suggestions!
