IM 20 long stocking ideas

Hey all, new to R2R but not to the hobby and just recently upgraded tanks from the IM10 to the IM20 long. I am currently running a mixed reef and recently got my first SPS. Tank has been running for a few months and have seen great coral growth so far. Time for the fun part, upgrading my stocking. I know my ideal stock list may be on the heavy side but I do weekly 25 percent water changes and run a Icecap K1 skimmer as well as countless bioballs in the back “sump”. Would love to hear any ideas and am open to feedback!!

1 frostbite clown

Possible stocking?
Midas Blenny
Possum wrasse

1. I would choose what's available.
2. Clownfish can be aggressive against any new addition.
3. Buy what you like - I'm not sure there is a good answer here - even fish listed as 'compatible'/'peaceful' can be problematic.

1. Availability isn’t much of a concern as I work at a LFS
2. Figured they would be, mine are even A holes when I stick my hand in the tank

Royal grammas offer a great pop. Of color and I absolutely love my tailspot blenny, huge personality in a little body.

I’ve got a 21gal long and have 2 clowns, a bicolor blenny, and a yellow watchman goby. They all seem to get along.

I tried a Midas in a 20g long and he was a complete butt once settled in. I think they need more room.

Mine will bite my hands but never bothered the other fish. Maybe this will change when they get older, but so far so good.

My next fish will be a yellow assessor basslet if I can ever find one, then wanna top it off with maybe a firefish goby.

Yeah that’s what I was worried about running into, that and jumping (just bought a lid). Maybe a smaller one like a tail spot or bicolor?

We just got a yellow assessor into the store I work at and I was definitely eyeballing it, beautiful fish.

Oh ya it will jump out for sure if no lid. Mine jumped out the feed door when o opened it more than once. One time it slapped me right in the face.

Tailspot would be perfect. Bi color I have seen pick at corals.

Live Aquaria has had several wild caught Australian yellow assessor’s popping up recently on their Diver’s Den Page (Wisconsin)
I was able to buy one during one of the Live Dive Sales recently (7/31)…on sale ($50 off regular price) with free shipping.
He’s absolutely gorgeous and been doing fabulous since his arrival. I’d suggest tuning in for their Live Dive’s on YouTube Mondays and Wednesdays and/or sign up for their Diver’s Den sneak peaks so you can see when they are going to be listed for sale. My LFS also had one recently and several were seen at their wholesalers as well at a recent visit. So they do seem to be popping up a little bit right now after not seeing them for quite a while.
My new guy lives with a Pink Streaked Wrasse and a Geometric Pygmy Hawk in a Waterbox 20. They all get along fabulously and will be moving into my upgraded 50 gallon tank once it’s cycled and ready!
I’d steer away from a firefish with an assessor in that small of a tank as they (assessor’s) ime seem to take a dislike to similar shaped elongated fish that swim in the middle/higher water column in those smaller quarters. In a larger tank it may be less of an issue.
I’ve had both a Yellow and a Randall’s previously for many years….they are both just fantastic unrated fish…easy to feed, hardy, and super fun to watch. They are one of my top all time favorite nano fish!!
My new one is very bold…he’s out all the time. He actually swims towards the front of the tank waiting for food when he sees me
coming, and we thoroughly enjoy watching his amazing gravity defying swimming acrobatics all over the tank!
