I've had this set up and running for almost a year now and want to finish off the stand so it's not an eyesore. I want to keep the sump area accessible so either two big doors or one big panel I can just take off. I was also hoping to build a simple canopy that is attached to the back of the stand, just to block some of the light glare when looking at the tank.
Does anyone have any ideas or tips?
Thank You

Level the stand :) !

I'm horrible at finishing projects. GET er done and you will be happier, I know!

I like 2 doors (they are lighter and smaller to handle & stow)

We had wood panel in our other home. I'd try to match that, or clear varnish the wood so its grain will show. That, is all I've got for you!

Except we need a GIF to motivate other comments

The stand is level, but our basement floor is sloped so it looks funky.

Easy option is get a 2’ x 4’ sanded board from Home Depot and a few 1/4” x 2” poplar hobby boards and make yourself a fake Shaker style pair of doors and add a couple of knobs. Screw a light gauge metal angle to the top of the door and a light gauge plate to the top of the frame so it backs onto the angle, stick a strongish neodymium magnet to the back side of the frame angle and you have a door that’s held in place by magnets but can be popped off in a second.

For the "door's"...go to a sign shop and get a black panel of acrylic/lexan/polycarbonate or whatever they have and do the magnet idea.
As far as the light spill on the wall, possibly lower/slide them down until no more light spill on the wall?
