2 month old tank, started with live rock.

Noticed this small black "tube" looking things protruding from the rock last night. Maybe 1 or 2 other places as well.

Is this something to be concerned about (vermatid snail?).

It could have been there the whole time, I'm not sure... Feels like every time I look at the rank i notice something different.

It looks like the end of a fanworm possibly. I had a ton before my copperband at them all

Thx, will keep an eye on it.

I still don't have a clear idea of what a Vermatid snail looks like.
Any chance of pics of it under white light? Blue light makes it tough to see a lot of important details for ID pics.

As shown above, most Vermetid snails we get in the hobby (the smaller species) have a spiral base while the end of the tube tends to jut straight out; they also feed by sending out a little mucus net. The interior of the tube should generally also be shiny rather than matte for Vermetids.

My hope is it's been there for a long while and I'm just now noticing it

If it has the spiral base and you're concerned it may have a vermetid in it, then you can just crush the base and remove the whole tube.

If it doesn't have the spiral base, then it may well be a feather duster tube.
