Hi all,

I just started culture of apocyclops panamensis copepods. And i have added isochrysis and nanochloropsis algae. 2 days in i wanted to check how things were going under the microscope. And in my water sample i found a copepod 40x. But at 640x i also found a critter. What is it? Is it a baby pod? A dinoflagelate? Any ideas? It races acrose the screen two times.

Hard to tell unfortunately think you can rule out a rotifer as it doesn't mimic the movements of one

Looks like Tigropus Brevicornis.

The fast mover in the video is a ciliate, although it is difficult to tell at that resolution which exact ciliate it is.
