So I made the mistake of not setting up a qt and now 3 of my tangs have ich my scopas and sailfin were fine for months until I added a powder brown and f things up. I will be picking up a 20G today for qt but copper power and copper Hanna checker and 57 watt uv won’t come until Thursday as for now I’ve been adding garlic and ginger to the frozen food during feeding time which it has help in the past but this ich that the powder brown brought is crazyyy…. I’ve looked at some videos on ich treatment and I would like to hear y’all’s 2 cents. Like how long to keep them in copper and HOW OFTEN to do water changes on qt thanks

Managing the ammonia level is going to be a challenge in the newly set up 20 gallon - you’ll either need lots of bottled bacteria, or if you can move enough bio filter material (not calcium based) from your DT to the QT, that will help. Be sure to get the copper up to a full dose right away, don’t do a slow ramp up like some suggest.

Try to find a 20 long rather than a 20 tall. A 40 breeder is a really good tank for a QT and not too much more money if Petco has a sale going. You used to be able to find true 30 gallon tanks too, which were 3' long.

All fish in the display need to be treated while the display remains fishless. 2+ ppm chelated copper (Copper Power or Coppersafe) for 30 days is the usual recommendation. Change water and add bottled bacteria as needed for ammonia. I actually wouldn't use the UV, although you might run it on the display. Skip the garlic and ginger.

I have plenty of these in the sump and leave those in there until I get my copper safe

45 days at 81 degrees is the new paradigm. 60 days if cooler. 72 days was based on some non-real world stuff.

Will it harm my corals at that degree? Mostly lps and beginner sps

I would follow what Mr Hemdal says and raise copper concentration to full strength right away, since the fish are showing symptoms.

As far as temp and corals and fallow periods, that's harder to answer. 81 should be safe for corals; some reefs are warmer than that.

That's why the 60 days at cooler temps, many aquarium corals aren't well adapted to 81.

“Update”
Inside of quarantine today. the garlic and ginger powder help out a lot it clear most of my brown tang don’t really see much just a little bit on the fins. Nemo’s and rabbit are doing good they didn’t seem to catch ich…. I couldn’t catch my 3 chromis I had to remove about 150lbs of rock just to get this guys out. Should I leave my chromis in the dp or try to get them out I didn’t see any specs on them. Currently using copper power and Hanna to check. Right it’s at 2.5 ppm

A post from local reef club:

https://www.sundew.bio/products

"In April, Live Aquaria is going to start selling this as "Proto Pro" that asserts reef safe ich treatment in a full reef. I'm interested in seeing early reviews. I would likely not use it in a full reef, but if it worked well in QT that would already be great. Copper is pretty harsh and prazi doesn't last long enough to achieve consistent treatment concentrations from what I've read."
