Hi, I was doing my tank maintenance, and was going to rinse out my filter pad, and I noticed that when pulling out the compartment, I noticed that there was an entirely empty piece?

What should I put in here? I already have some biofiltration. Also my tank has only been running for about two months with three fish, and no light.

Looks like either a custom canister insert of a piece of filter floss could fit the box? If you use floss I would change it often.

Thanks, when my tank was set up, my dad did it the filter area part, while I was configuring the stand. I guess he didn’t quite follow the instructions

I don’t really have any ammonia, or discoloration in my water. And my tank doesn’t smell either, would carbon still be a good option?
Never hurts to run in my opinion, I run it 24/7 on my tank.. if you got soft corals or a nem it would be a good idea.

Looks like the frame for a hob that has the filter that fits over that frame then slides into the filter. I used them on freshwater in the day. You could just buy some floss and toss it in or carbon or something similar as suggested.

As long as there's room you sure can.

EDIT : I would run the floss in top of the carbon. It will help keep the carbon from getting full of detritus and you can just change out the floss when needed.
Or however the flow is so the floss gets the flow first

I haven’t used filter floss, and when looking at things to buy, there’s a lot of different options. Are there any better than others? I saw filter floss that looked similar to a pad, one that looked like actually floss, one that looked like cotton balls.
