I’ve only ever had one birdsnest and I do recall the inner branches doing that, however, that may have been more from lack of light since it was a full colony.Coral Bleaching
All of my coral are doing good except for apparently my birdsnest. I noticed yesterday that I see some bleaching at the base, but the odd part is it's showing full polyp extension which leaves me confused...
Do you know why a coral would show full PE while bleaching?
Here are the rest of my coral below, again all very happy:

At least your acro is looking perfectly happy!
A little hard since I don't have any dimming features. The very edges of my tank are around 230 par~ per the image below:think too much light on birdsnest, try lowering it...
Yeah, everything. Are you running your full photoperiod already? All 8-bulbs on the ATI?
I’m running my full photoperiod MINUS the 2-bulbs for full daylight….for now. But I have my whitest bulbs on that 2-bulb channel. This may help with your GHA, a little. I’m still getting some GHA too, but not as bad.Yeah, everything.

That’s how I have it:Here are my bulbs below:
Coral Plus is the "whitest" bulb in my setup. I could swap both of them into my 2nd channel which is 2 bulbs and do something similar.
- ATI Blue Plus
- ATI Coral Plus
- ATI Purple Plus

- Giesemann Powerchrome Tropic
How long did yours take? I also used dry rock, dry sand. Ammonia was 0 4 days ago and my nitrites are still over 1+ on my Red Sea kit.I’m at the exact same stage as you right now. I didn’t do any of that, I was 100% Marco rocks and bare bottom and my XLM took even longer than yours.
I’m going to try Brightwell CLEAN next to try and entirely avoid the ugly stage.
Mike took a long time. I think around 40-days, maybe more. I have it in my build thread. It was the nitrites that took forever to bottom out for me.How long did yours take? I also used dry rock, dry sand. Ammonia was 0 4 days ago and my nitrites are still over 1+ on my Red Sea kit.
That’s where I’m at. Driving me crazy I’m on day 25 I believe. Did you just let it ride? I was thinking about maybe introducing some additional bacteria in the form of MB7 but not sure if that will screw things up.Mike took a long time. I think around 40-days, maybe more. Don’t do that. If anything use CLEAN. You’re not supposed to use MB7 until like 6-months.That’s where I’m at. Driving me crazy I’m on day 25 I believe. Did you just let it ride? I have the dates all documented here.

Should the CLEAN help with the nitrite issue? I read your thread and man I hope mine doesn’t take another 30 days! But if it does, it is what it is!Don’t do that. If anything use CLEAN. You’re not supposed to use MB7 until like 6-months.

I remember reading why you’re supposed to wait on MB7, but forgot what the answer is.To be fair I used MB7 during my process as well and the cycle finished < 30 days.
