I have been putting a lot of work in my tank this past couple of months with new Halide bulbs, T5 bulbs, and Hair Algae removal. I replaced all the bulbs in September, so far all my corals are responding quite well, except for a single head of Frog Spawn. I've added a few new SPS colonies and removed a few LPS.

For the most part I am trying to make my 120 full SPS and if I can get the funds together I'm going to build a 40 breeder for LPS and Zoas/Palys. I'll probably go with all T5's.

Winter will be here soon so there will be lots of indoor time to sit and enjoy my reef.

So East Tennessee, How's Your Tank???

My tank is coming back around. Had some chalice die off for unknown reasons. I've lost almost all my chalices. Then I had a power cord fall in the tank and send electricity pulsing through my tank. Still battling some bubble algae and aiptasia. Other than that my sps is doing well and I just ordered a frag pack of SPS from Sexy Corals. I can't wait to get those in. In the near future i'll be purchasing an RODI unit, another mp10 power head, and possibly a LED fixture. Maybe even and ATO unit. I'm ready for winter though.

Are you thinking about replacing you T5's with LED?

Well, you've seen pics of my 120 that I recently finished, so now it's time to start another project. I'm gonna turn my 40B frag tank into a display tank also. Work will begin tomorrow.

The ten gallon is doing great. I packed it with live rock for the clown and damsel. The 55 I am in talks with a guy who wants to trade his 90 for my 55. So I might be going up to a 90 gallon build.

What stand do you have for your 40?

A 90 has a much better foot print.

I went on a massive hydroids killing spree in my tank and thought I had them all knocked out. Then I found some popping back up over the past few days and I'm bummed. But it's time for another killing spree then hopefully they will all die. I ordered some zap-tasia because not only does it kill aiptasia, it seems to kill these brownish hydroid looking things that I have in the tank.

I have a purple encrusting Montipora bleaching out for no apparent reason. I've kept up with water changes and everything. I have no idea why it's doing that. It may have something to do with me switching ballasts. I switched from the old magnetic ballasts to electronic ones recently.

I need to hook up my calcium reactor really badly.

The RSM is still a big ball of algae that just needs to be completely redone.

Oh and Jake moved his tank to the house now so we've added one more tank.

Hey Rob, the stand that my frag tank is currently on is just a 15 minute DIY stand made out of plywood. No door, no back (to speak of). You're welcome to it when I get my new stand finished. I'm gonna make a stand for it that matches the 120 stand.

Well, I've been secretly putting a tank together and it is finally looking nice. Let me know what you think:

In my experience it typically takes a month or two for single zoa polyps to settle and acclimate to a tank. Most zoas do well in medium light but typically prefer medium to higher flow. I'd leave it be at medium light medium flow and give it another month. Also sometime I use my feeding pipettes to blow of the base of the zoa. They can be irritated by algae or detritus around their base.

Took down my 20gl display and combined with my 55gl display. Now I am waiting on tax time to get everything ready for my new 125gl display. Lots to buy while waiting...
