So I've heard and read a lot of different things on ways to help with coral coloration and tried many, just have yet to find any amazing results.
Here's a little back story on what I've tried along with current parameters:
Tank: 45g JBJ AIO
Light: Hydra 52 (I run 16k at 30% with a 1 hr ramp up for 6 hours and 1 hr ramp down to switch to 20k at 25% for the last 3 hours)
Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: 15-20ppm
Calcium: 410
Alk: 8.2
Mag: 1200 (this could be another culprit to color problems, I've been slowly working to get this up, IO salt has really low Mag and I did a big WC with some cyano issue and it dipped pretty low. I plan to switch once I'm out)
Phosphate: 0.05 ppm
Feed daily pellets and flakes and phyto.
2 times a week I feed LRS Reef Frenzy Nano, make sure everyone gets some.
Once a week I dose Red Sea A+B.
Every 2 weeks feed a mix of Reef Roids and Fauna Marin Coral Dust.
So I have a Dragon Soul torch who has over time has lost a lot of it's gold. I've actually got a lot of coloration back in him, but feel like he definitely could be a lot brighter. I also have another indo torch who's tips on certain polyps have bleached almost. I originally thought this was due to increasing lighting. I had some zoas that were reaching and weren't opening and showing their skirts, so decided to increase my lights up 10%, and then in about 3 weeks another 10%. Well after that for awhile, was when I noticed the tips on my green torch bleaching and brought down the lights to 30%.
Is there a "preferred" or ideal Kelvin to keep torches at or just depend?
Any tips or recommendations also?
Always here to learn and grow and gain insight to be a better at husbandry.
