reefing is an expensive hobby! from getting the tank, all the equipment and the livestock! But the main expense is water changes and salt! especially if you have a big tank! Everything always must come at a cost! So, how much do water changes cost you each month? water bill, salt and other!
for me, probably around 0.02$ for water and under 20$ for salt!

I don't think I'll live long enough to purchase enough salt to even come close to the cost of just the tank and stand alone in my most recent build.

EDIT: I also don't keep track of how much I spend. Always destroy the evidence so it can't be used against you ;)

About $60 a month for salt and water, not including cost of RODI filters and resin. Five tanks, 160 gallons (one bucket of salt) changed every month.

Hmm
Probably change 30-50 gallons a month. So let’s say 40. A box of salt for me is about 60$. So that’s about 12$. Much less then I spend on other things like food.

when you add up the AFR, testing supplies, RO filters, phosphate removers, carbon, Salt, electricity, waste water from RO, replacement livestock from bad vendors, et et et

so after careful calculations using the latest Terrence Howard AI program I get:

“every 100gallon of reef equals 1year in college tuition”
