I ran mt radion g5 on my 40 gallons from 7:00 pm to 3:00 pm including the ramp up and down. And i feel thats nkt enough light. So i bumped it to 5:00 pm including the ramp up and down. But i was wondering if i can down do 12 hours 7;00 am to 7:00pm including the ramp up and down.

I am running my XR15 G5 for about 14 hrs but only peaked for 6hrs. The rests, I tuned the spectrum to my viewing preferences.

I run my ReefLED 90s for the 11 hour photoperiod that Red Sea recommends. But only 6 hours of peak intensity.

Corals do need darkness but I think 11-12 hours is fine. Could also go a bit shorter though, if you wanted.

It depends on the coral. From what I have tried to learn there are these “rules”:

You can run your lights lower for longer, or higher for less time.

Coral need dark time to rest, at least 8 hours.

Change your light settings slowly over time, like 5-10% per week. Coral hate having their parameters changed all the time.

What happen if i do 12 hours of AB+ running 65%. Including the 1 hour ramp up and 1 hour ramp down? Is that an issue for corals?
It depends on what you have but I think they will adapt (if you ramp up slowly)
However, I think it is unnecessary since these LED Lights are very intense. Plus corals don't get that long of light period in nature.
I watched many YouTube videos and most people only running 4-6 hours peak.

If you just reduce to 65% then your overall PAR will go down, and some corals might prefer the higher PAR. I keep things simple with one hour ramp up or down and then 8-10 hours of “peak” light. That said there are lots of different combos. Here’s a link to a bunch of different light profiles from Aqua Illumination to give you a sense of what people do.
