I bought a Green Killer (or something like that) UV from petco, and I’m planning on running it 24 hrs per day. It is very ugly in my tank and adds a bit of unwanted flow. Do I have to leave it in all the time, or can i just use it until the cloudiness goes away?

You can leave it in till the cloudiness is gone and remove. Maybe leave it an extra day or two to make sure the bacteria or algae are gone.

I've always seen them as as unnecessary bandaid to a problem that could actually be fixed or will go away on its own.

I know, but it hasn‘t hone away in a while and i heard that since the water is green it could be a phytoplankton boom and pretty much only fixed with a uv
